Candle basket
And last...for now:

I found this lovely little basket at my local thrift store and have been using it to store my candles in. I love this idea, it's so helpful:)

And just 'cause I adore it so much. I picked this broom/besom up from a little shop in another town. It's handmade and the wood is local to the area. Wish I could recall what kind of wood it is. But I think it's so beautiful!

Hopefully all of this will encourage others to follow suit!

This was such an AWESOME find!! It was supposed to be a set of two, but for the life of me, I could not find the second one.

-he's got a large chip missing on the bottom left, but that's not too bad.

I've got him hanging near my altar so he's kind of looking down on it now:

I'm thinking about making a mold from this one and then casting duplicates of it from plaster. That would be awesome:)

Wooden chest
While out thrift-store-ing around, I also found this really cool wooden chest and I think I want to keep my Tarot cards in it...and if not those, then some of my altar candles and candle holders.

cauldron candle burner
I was out with a friend poking around thrift stores this past weekend and I finally found a little cauldron -it's so cute!! It already has a candle in it -smells like cinnamon-y apple and the whole thing just lights up when lit! I think I paid about $1.00 for it.

Platter Candleholder
A while ago I found this beautiful glass platter candle holder at one of my local thrift stores and I just couldn't pass it up.

-Now it's holding center-stage on my altar with a labrinth shaped powder incense burner on top of it.

I'm going to split this up into a few separate posts just to help the comm. along a little.

A while ago I posted about this cool star-shaped, brass, candleholder I found at a thrift store. Well, I finally cleaned it up tonight and put candles in it. I don't have a place for it on my altar yet, but it's sitting nearby regardless:)

I finally tried to scan something on my scanner. I found this at Goodwill for $2.50, a month or so ago and while I haven't used it yet, I'd like to use it on an altar at some point. It's a tea-lite candle holder. I thought this to be a fantastic find for me!:)

This is my Pagan_Thrift find for the day!:)

Sun/ Moon finds:)
Currently I'm not using these items on any altar or in a Spiritual Space, but I hope to at some point. Just had to show these.

-I found the candlestick set and the mirror at a yard sale a few weeks ago -got the set together for $5.00. They are so cool!:)
*I've been thinking about setting up a large shelf near my bed's headboard and making a themed altar especially for sleep and dreams. -These will definitely be on that shelf! Once we've moved I should be able to find the space for it:)

(not thrift store finds, but I made the mask myself and the sari was a gift from my Dad while he was over in Bahran a couple of years ago.)

Community Question
Hi everyone, I was curious as to what other second-hand venues you know of out there that I might add to the profile.
And would you consider Craft Fairs appropriate for the category of second-hand...?

-Thank you so much!:)

First Entry :)
I don't have a camera so i cant really show you anything but i'll try to explain...

Last weekend i went to a furniture/random stuff type shop and i found a bell that was missing the ball inside but had a piece of wire in it (makes a GREAT QUIEEETTT bell/candlesnuffer)

One time i was in Pier 1 (i <3 that store) with my mom and they were having a great sale and i found 6 jars with cork tops one circle, one hexagon, one square and each set in blue and green...each for like 65 cents! for a total of about $3 or $4. :D I havent used them but once i collect some herbs they'd be great for that.

Although this isnt really a "thrift" type thing...i was at a flea market where like "old people" could set up shops and i found a WWII japanese fan with a dragon on it..and it was $20 but the moral of this one is flea markets have lots of good finds... :D

I'm constantly on the lookout for figurines and candleholders...actually at the funiture/random stuff store i saw a hand made candle holder that had a star and moon on it...i was like hmmmm...but i didnt get it...lol

Thats all i have right now...actually later today i'm goin back up to the funiture/random stuff store...heehee ;D

Happy thrifting!

Don't know if y'all count this as "thrifty," but here are the candle holders I have on my altar, and an explanation:

Ceramic dishes
This is a pic of my altar. Notice the 2 brown dishes on there... one is a flat dish containing salt, and the other has a short stem (I use this as a libation/offering bowl). Well, they were both great finds (around 20c) from 2nd hand shops!!!!!

I totally recommend checking out thrift/2nd hand shops when you are looking for tools and things to use on your altar. I have also bought several different kinds of candle holders from them, as well as a chalice for my best friend. It saves heaps of money, it's fun, and it's probably good for the environment too (recycling)!

No pics. this time:(
-Sorry, no pics. this time...my digital camera died on me toward the end of this last year...I'm saving up for a new one right now.
I've got a bad habit of buying wrought iron candle holders and yet never having enough candles for them...but I found one recently that looked perfect for use as a large crystal ball stand. I don't 'yet' have a crystal ball, but I've been looking for a decorative stand, anyways. I also found a large wooden bowl and a set of 6 chalice shaped wooden cups -the bowl I plan on using for kitchen use, but the cups may be nice for ritual.

Today I found a large, heavy, bronze star tea-light candle holder. Once I clean it up I think it'll be perfect for my altar. I prefer silver, but it's such a nice looking star/candle holder...I couldn't resist it.

My altar (a seasonal altar) tends to be made up of alot of my thrift store/yard sale finds -which works nicely for me:)

First post!:)
These are some late finds, but better than nothing right now:)

Found this last year at a local Samaritan Center, cleaned it up and turned it into a little chest for some jars of dried herbs, Tarot cards, incense, etc.

And found this at a Hospital's Consignment Sale for $10.00 a few years ago:

The rest are behind here.Collapse )
